Part of the fire alarm system acceptance testing is to test the building’s smoke evacuation system. The atrium has two aluminum louvers which in the event that there is a fire, a fan kicks on and pulls the smoke out of the building through this evacuation system. These pictures show smoke bombs being ignited, which trigger detectors within the atrium that activate the fire alarm to turn on the smoke evacuation fans, thus pulling the smoke away.
